COLWYN Bay promenade was a hive of activity on Bank Holiday Monday as all ages enjoyed the annual Prom Day celebrations.
Even wild winds whipping up waves failed to dampen spirits, with the weather conditions adding to the excitement as holidaymakers and residents alike enjoyed the amusements running along the two miles from Rhos on Sea to Colwyn Bay.
This year’s event saw Britain’s Got Talent runners up Twist and Pulse entertain the crowds, along with the traditional funfair, giant inflatables and a range of market stalls and kiosks. The festivities were co-organised by employment agency Supertemps, along with Cartrefi Conwy, Conwy County Borough Council and Colwyn Bay Town Council.
First established in 1988, the purpose of the Prom Day was to entice visitors from across the UK to the area, and in its first year was visited by approximately 20,000 people, and now regularly attracts more than 60,000 visitors.
