Temporary Workers Week 2017 comes to North Wales
A top recruitment firm will hold a series of events to celebrate temporary workers.
Colwyn Bay and Bangor-based Supertemps hosts its annual Temporary Workers Week next Monday to Friday (October 9-13).
Among the activities taking place will be a pop-up shop in Llandudno’s Victoria Centre from Tuesday to Thursday, between 10am and 4pm.
There will also be CV surgeries, employment advice and information on opportunities in sectors seeking temps and permanent staff.
Managing director Sarah Ellwood encouraged jobseekers and companies looking to expand their workforce to visit the “super team” during the event.
“Temp Week is an important landmark in our annual calendar because we recognise the valuable contribution that the flexible workforce makes to our local and national economy,” said Sarah.
“We will be visiting temps across the region and dropping off ‘thank you’ gifts as a small token of our appreciation for the work they undertake every day, as well as holding events and games to make it fun.”
Recent statistics from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation revealed more than three quarters of value added to the UK economy by the recruitment industry was derived from temporary employment activities.
They also found the top three sectors in which recruiters made temporary placements were industrial/blue collar, accounting/financial and secretarial/clerical.
Sarah added: “We will be showcasing the wide range of industries and jobs that temps do, as often there is a belief that they are only used in retail or office jobs - that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Temps are used in every sector, they’re a valuable and vital element of the UK workforce and that’s why we plan to celebrate them next week.”
The week’s programme also includes the awarding of the Temp of the Year prize, client and candidate competitions and activities via the company’s Facebook and Twitter channels.
mobile beautician will also be present in the Supertemps pop up shop on Thursday October 11 offering complimentary mini treatments to visitors to customers.
The group is also celebrating further expansion of its S2 brand and unveiling of its new website which meets a demand for recruits in the IT and executive arenas. The online platform S2recruitment.co.uk will set the firm apart as a “one-stop shop” for recruitment.
