Supertemps handles national recruitment drive
Supertemps is helping Blind Veterans UK hire 60 people for a range of permanent positions nationwide as the charity seeks to meet ambitious targets to support vision impaired war veterans in the community.
The recruitment agency led a successful campaign to recruit for a similar number of positions when the UK charity opened a new facility in Llandudno in 2011.
Trustees of Blind Veterans UK have set an ambitious target to double the number of blind veterans receiving its life-changing support by 2022.
The new roles include several Community Team Leaders with regional responsibilities,
Community Support Workers, Administrators and Volunteer Co-ordinators in early 2017.
Supertemps Managing Director Sarah Ellwood said: “We’re thrilled to be working on another major recruitment project with Blind Veterans UK. The Charity provides a service which is second to none to its beneficiaries and we’re proud to be a part of that once again. Working as a remote extension of their HR Department is a joy to do and we wish them every success as they move forward into this new era.”
Blind Veterans UK will create 19 community teams of health and social care professionals across the UK, including specialists in fields such as IT training and adaptive living.
Chief Executive Officer Nick Caplin said: “As we grow the number of veterans supported by the charity, so we are increasing the number of front-line staff so that our beneficiaries continue to receive the high standard of support we have always provided.
“We decided to work with Supertemps again because of the fantastic service they provided in helping to recruit staff when our training and rehabilitation centre in Llandudno opened in 2011.
“This is the beginning of an exciting new era in the history of Blind Veterans UK. We believe no one who has served their country should have to battle blindness alone. We will continue to develop and improve our services to help blind ex-Service men and women live their lives as independently as possible.”
Supertemps is North Wales’ longest-established independent recruitment agency with offices in Colwyn Bay and Bangor.
In 2014 the agency successfully hired for more than 60 positions when Blind Veterans UK – then St Dunstan’s – opened a new training and rehabilitation centre in Llandudno.
The centre features 40 bedrooms for short-term visitors and 14 care rooms, and a further 25 rooms for blind veterans staying for either a holiday or for rehabilitation and training.
